Midnight Crystal by Jayne Castle
★★★★
The Earth colonists have discovered that something indigenous to the planet Harmony increases psychic abilities. And the strange, green alien structures, long abandoned, also affect psi.
A new class of humans have developed – where each member has a “talent”. But the more talents someone has, the more unstable they become. The Burning Lamp, an ancient device, allows someone to control their talents and prevent the dangerous condition called Cerberus.
Marlowe Jones, the newly appointed head investigator for Jones & Jones, is an off-the-charts strong dreamlight reader and descendant of Sylvester Jones, arch enemy of Nicholas Winters.
The newest Guild Boss is Adam Winters. To stop a potentially deadly underground maze that’s going rogue, he needs to find the Burning Lamp, which will require the assistance of a strong dreamlight reader.
Together they must stop the maze from destroying part of the planet, and then put a stop to whoever has rediscovered the secret for making dream crystals.

This book is your typical romance. The characters are a bit simplistic, but the plot holds together and even has some unexpected turns. Overall an enjoyable read.
Although listed as a trilogy, each book is actually a stand alone book within the Universe. There are a few jargon terms that you’ll figure out. There’s also another set of books in the Universe called the Ghost Hunters series. (Ghost Hunters are people with the talent to find/stop what are essentially energy tornados.)
